A Digital Application for Structural Practice Management

Conclusion

This research discussed elements that contribute to quality practice, divided in three chapters: necessities for learning, organisation of study sessions and effectiveness in learning music. I found the topics described in all three chapters valuable for my own development, mostly in terms of focus, organisation, and effectiveness of studying.

Not all elements discussed in the first three chapters were explicitly implemented in the application. Some are up to the user to work on outside the digital environment of the application, and others could be realized while using the app but are optional. Because I wanted to keep the app flexible, and accessible to any type of user, I implemented multiple types of practice sessions to choose from and give the musician freedom to work in the chosen type of session as they please.

In this research I presented a prototype for the application. The next step is to make a working first version and to conduct user tests, to see what to improve on and what to add. Then it will also become clear whether this is something that musicians enjoy using and will actually help to improve their practice.
